I
need someone to conduct interviews!
One of the
things that has made DarkSecret.com famous is our Hot Confession Interviews.
At the very beginning of this site, 10 years ago as of last April,
it was the primary attraction of the site. We offered people the opportunity
to find out what the white wives of America were up to by publishing
over 100 lengthy and informative instant message chats.
Back in those
days, I was the one doing all the interviews in chatrooms, usually
on AOL, and it took an enormous amount of my time to do those chats
then edit all the text. I'm talking HUGE amounts of time.
As the years
went by, I could devote less and less time to doing the interviews,
and I have come to rely on others for these now. And that is the reason
for this month's editorial. I need help!
The right
candidate should have these qualities:
- Must understand the
need to ask a "leading question," meaning a question
that elicits an essay answer. You are not the star of the interview,
you are playing a support role. The star is the one you are interviewing.
I don't want the interview subject answering questions you ask
with "Yes" or "No" or other very brief replies,
because the interviewer is doing all the talking. Wrong example:
"Did you go straight home from the bar?" Right example:
"Where did you go once you left the bar?"
- Must be supportive.
We are not going to be judgmental here, merely sincerely curious
and helpful. I want you to offer advice if it seems they need
it, but ask first. If you are asked for your insight, feel free
to provide it. If they need encouragement to do something, then
you provide it.
- Recognize the interview
subject's goal. It is usually to get into interracial sex, or
learn about it, or get advice as a result of some problem, or
maybe she or he just wants to tell their personal story.
- Be prepared to spend
a considerable amount of time talking to folks. Don't begin an
interview if you will need to break it off in 10 minutes to run
some errand. Try to assure your time doing interviews will be
uninterrupted.
- Be attentive to the
interview subject. Don't get distracted by conversations with
others. Pay attention, don't waste his or her time by delayed
responses. This will only encourage them to stop talking with
you. If you have to take a phone call, tell the interview subject
and ask them not to go away, that you will be right back.
- Be able to structure
the interview. When I do an interview, I try to get a handle on
what that person is doing sexually in their current life. Then
I delve into their history ("How did all this get started?")
I usually find those first-time experiences to be amazingly hot,
so I try to get as much detail as I can. Then I move on to the
next couple of stories they have, and near the end I try to find
out what their plans and intentions are for the future, who else
knows about what they are doing, advice they may offer to other
women, and I get a description. I cannot publish their photos,
so get a description! At the end, be courteous and thank them
for talking with you. If they wander off topic, bring them back
to your structured format, and deal with other stuff later on
at some logical point, or at the end.
- Save all the private
message text to a text file. Label the file with the screen name
of the interview subject and the date. If by chance there is a
follow up interview later on, add the new text below the existing
text, and preface the new text with the date of that new conversation.
- Be able to convince
them you are simply interested in their personal story. We do
not admit to anyone we are interviewing them for DarkSecret.com.
The reason is, most everyone will be terrified of being identified
and embarrassed or worse. That is a completely unfounded fear,
but they don't know that. Just so you know, we always
change personal names, screen names, cities and states, ages and
personal descriptions. If some married woman, 35, 5'5", blonde,
with two girls ages 4 and 7 and living in Kentucky gets interviewed,
when we begin editing the interview later on (we do the editing,
not you), we change all that. Suddenly she's 33, 5'7", redhead,
one boy 3, one girl 7, and living in Florida. People will
absolutely not talk to you if you tell them what you are
really doing, so don't tell them.
- Be unconcerned about
the legality of this. We checked with a lawyer when we began doing
interviews this way and we were told it is perfectly legal.
- Be able to send us
the interview text files on deadline, the 20th of each month.
I need three good interviews from you per month. We will take
it from there.
